We would like to invite you and your members and friends to participate in the 2000 Florida Citrus Bowl All-Star Drum & Bugle Corps hosted by Heat Wave of Orlando. Below you will find an itinerary and helpful info on housing and transportation in Orlando. We have secured the travel agency owned by Bahia Shrine Drum & Bugle Corps member Jerry Higgenson to help anyone needing flight help. ALL-TRAVEL SERVICES can be reached at 407-851-1751. After the parade on Saturday a Bar-B-Que will be held sponsored by the Bahia Shrine Drum & Bugle Corps at the Shrine facility picnic pavilion. Cost is $8.00 per person and includes ALL-YOU CAN EAT Burgers and dogs, plus side items and 2 beverage coupons (beer, soda, mixed drink). Additional alcohol tickets can be purchased for $1.00 and soda for $.50. We need to get a count on how many to feed, so get us your info ASAP!!
A couple of months ago, I had a difference of opinion with another RADPer over which city felt hotter in August - Orlando or Atlanta. I said Orlando; he said Atlanta. I promised to keep track of the weather records for August 2001, so we could compare the results. Here they are.
For housing we recommend the following, as they are close to the Shrine facility and inexpensive and only about 11 miles from the parade start. Some have transportation from the Airport to the hotel and vice-versa Intrastate Inns & Suites Extended Stay America Fairfield Inn Lee Road (5 miles from Shrine) Keller Rd. (1 mile from Shrine) 951 Wymore Rd (3.5 miles from Shrine) Orlando Orlando Winter Park 407-644-4100 407-667-0474 407-539-1955
Antonio was on the fan590 today and said he bought a home in Orlando because his kids like the warm weather. He also owns a house in the Toronto area. He just laughed at the rumours about him going to Orlando. He said he is happy here and has not thought about the off season at all. I think he likes playing in this city. They just have to gaurantee that they will get a starting centre so he can play his natural position, ciao Rick H.
